NAIROBI: Wednesday, 14th August 2024.
Outgoing Chief Officer for Social Services Mr. George Mutiso has officially handed over the Docket to his successor, Mr. Godfrey Akumali. The handing over follows changes made by Nairobi Governor H.E. Sakaja Johnson last week in accordance with section 45(5) of the County Government Act 2012.
Mr. Akumali previously held the Cooperatives docket which he has held since the inauguration of Governor Sakaja’s administration in 2022. Mr. Mutiso now transitions to Cooperatives Sub-Sector Business and Hustler Opportunities Sector.
Mr. Godfrey Akumali was also appointed Acting County Secretary taking over from Mr. Patrick Analo Akivaga who maintains his substantive position as Chief Officer Urban Planning and Development.
Mr. Mutiso appreciated the Social Services team and the entire Talent Skills Development and Care sector for the support and guidance accorded to him during his tenure. He said he was grateful to H.E. Governor Sakaja Johnson, for the reassignment to the new role. “I am excited and ready to serve in your administration and Nairobians at large as you continue making a great and lasting impact on people of this great City.”
Mr. Akumali on his part said he was pleased to take up his new role as Chief Officer for Social Services and remains confident that the journey ahead shall be exciting as we continue to actualize H.E. Governor Sakaja’s manifesto of making Nairobi work.
The new chief officer was briefed and updated on the sub-sector activities.
The handing over was witnessed by Mr. Brian Mulama County Executive for Talent Skills Development and Care where Social Services is domiciled Directors, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors and officers serving in the Docket.
