Nairobi Mobilizes Forces for 2nd National Tree Planting: 120,400 Seedlings to Green the City

Nairobi City County, Kenya Defense Forces, Administration Police, National Environment Management Authority, Kenya Forestry Authority, National Youth Service and Kenya Wildlife Service today joined forces in planting trees in Nairobi to mark the 2nd National Tree planting exercise.

The collaborative efforts saw 120, 400 tree seedlings planted ;( KWS -3, 000, Bomas Beat-4,400, APTC -33,000 and Embakasi Garrison- 80,000)
2ndtreeplanting 3Ag. County Secretary Mr. Patrick Analo led Nairobi County Executive from across all the County Sectors in the event which was graced by Mr. Felix Kosgey, Head of Public Service.

Mr. Patrick Analo lauded Nairobi County staff for showing up in large numbers for a noble exercise of greening the City. He encouraged Nairobians to take advantage of the rainy season to plant more trees. The County Secretary noted that the City aims to increase tree cover which stands at 13.74% to 30% in the next nine years.
2ndtreeplanting 4Green Nairobi Executive Committee Member Mr. Ibrahim Auma mentioned that Nairobi County has been at the forefront working towards enhancing environmental conservation across the City. “Through strategic partnerships, community engagement and innovative initiatives, we are working tirelessly to increase tree cover and contribute significantly to the national target of planting 15 billion trees as well tackle Climate Change.” Said Mr. Auma.
2ndtreeplanting 5“As we plant and nature these seedlings, let us remember that we not just planting trees. We are planting hope, resilience and a legacy of environmental stewardship that will endure for generations to come. He added.

The event was attended by County Executives, County Chief Officers, Directors and Other County staff.
