Nairobi City County Deputy Governor H.E Njoroge Muchiri today hosted a team from Tokyo Metropolitan Government who paid him a courtesy call to brief him on disaster management initiatives using different technologies.
The Tokyo team made brief presentations on five start up solutions that can be applied to mitigate different disasters that the County experiences. These included; disaster management using drones, transformation of human security with drone and image analysis AI and Location AI platform for flood preparedness and data collection and efficiency.
The Deputy Governor acknowledged that the technologies showcased were perfect and would help mitigate disasters in Nairobi.
” The initiatives are all good and relevant for disaster management in our city, with some of them cutting across different emergencies. Nairobi County welcomes such initiatives that improve the lives of people.” He said.
Ag. County Secretary Mr. Godfrey Akumali welcomed the solutions adding that such innovative technologies will bring solutions to emergencies that have bedeviled the City.
The Chief Officer for Disaster Management Mr. Bramwel Simiyu, said the County will choose the best solutions from amongst the five models for disaster management proposal startups presented.
Mr. Simiyu said that Nairobi County has in the past grappled with a number of natural disasters which led to Nairobi Governor H.E Sakaja Johnson challenging the Disaster Management department to find mitigation solutions.
