Nairobi County Environment Sub-Sector Holds Team Building Event to Foster Cohesion and Excellence in Service Delivery

Nairobi County Environment Sub- Sector held an interactive and team building session for the Environment Officers, Environment Supervisors and Clerical Officers at Uhuru Park, with an aim of creating a cohesive team that will deliver for the people of Nairobi by creating a clean and greener city.

The meeting also aimed at enabling the new team understand the culture of the sector, work ethics as well as know the directions to take in the implementation of the sector mandate of creating a cleaner and a greener City.
Teambuilding 1The Green Nairobi Executive Member Mr. Ibrahim Auma asked the environment staff to do their work faithfully and willingly, serving the people of Nairobi with dignity. He also implored the senior officers to take care of the junior officers whose responsibility has been bestowed upon them.

“I am proud and value our environment staff as a very useful resource of the County.  During the heavy rain season you all went out of your way and made sure Nairobi was not adversely affected by the floods.” Said the CEC.

He called on the staff to be innovative and always look for solutions that make things work in the right way. Mr. Auma encouraged for more such meetings that help the team bond, while promising to champion for what’s good for the team where possible.
Teambuilding 10County Director for Environment Mr. John Paul Malawi noted that most of Environment staff are new hence the need to have them taken through what is expected of them and how to conduct themselves as public officers.

“At the end of the day we just want to achieve a team that is united and understands their roles and duties. We also want to get feedback from them on the areas they need us to improve on and what we have done well.” Stated Mr. Malawi.
Teambuilding 8The officers received valuable insights from the sector Heads. They were advised to always be faithful, available and teachable. They were also called up on to further their careers and network with other sectors to understand what they do.  They were further guided on systems of working and office protocols, principles of public service such as accountability, transparency, integrity and responsiveness.

Later on, the staff engaged in team building activities for bonding purposes.
