Murang’a: 5th June, 2024
The Nairobi representatives led by the County Executive for Talent Skills Development and Care Rosemary Kariuki and in a collaborative effort to enhance early childhood education, the Nairobi City County Education Department paid a courtesy visit to the Murang’a County Education sector. The visit, facilitated in partnership with EIDU, an NGO dedicated to promoting digital learning in pre-primary schools, aimed to observe and share best practices in digital education.
The tour commenced with a visit to Murang’a Teachers College Primary School, where the delegation observed classroom lessons in numeracy and literacy. These lessons were notably enhanced by the use of digital media, showcasing the integration of technology in early childhood education.
Following the school visit, the Nairobi team proceeded to the County Offices, where they were warmly received by senior officials. The delegation was hosted by Dr. Newton Mwangi -County Secretary Faith Wairimu Njoroge- Education and Technical Training CECM.
Leonard Guchu Ndung’u, – CO education. During this session, the Nairobi team was introduced to Murang’a County’s flagship projects, which included initiatives in digital learning for Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), health, agriculture, and road development.
Ms. Kariuki said Nairobi has already adapted digital learning strategies in its Vocational Centres with the next phase being ECDE Centres across the City. “This visit accentuates the commitment of both counties to leveraging technology to improve educational outcomes and serves as a model for inter-county collaboration.”
The County Executive was accompanied by Chief Officer Ahmed Abdi, Director Ruth Owuor Deputy Directors Peter Miano, Leornad Mititi, Raphael Kinyungu Assistant Director Rosalia Ndambuki, and Joseph Waiganjo.
