Nairobi City County in partnership with Internet Society Foundation to boost internet governance knowledge.

Vocational Training together with Digital Economy and Startups today presided over the graduation ceremony of trained staff members at a Nairobi Hotel in partnership with Internet Society Foundation.

The Director Vocational Training Mr. Leonard Mititi who read the speech on behalf of the County Executive for Talent, Skills and Sports Ms. Rosemary Kariuki congratulated the 45 graduands who successfully completed their training in internet governance, their dedication and hard work has contributed to a significant achievement and the County is incredibly proud of each one of them.
Internetsociety 3Mititi said, “The occasion is an accomplishment and a testament to the power of collaboration. The sector joined hands with Innovation and Digital economy sector, e-learning subsector to facilitate the training. Such partnerships are crucial in advancing our shared goals and enhancing the quality of education and training in the county we look forward to more of such engagements“

He said, “IDE sector has further supported us by deploying ICT infrastructure to Vocational Training Centers. This has enhanced the capacity and quality of ICT training in our Vocational Training Centers Equipping our students with the skills needed to thrive in the digital age. Looking ahead, the future of ICT in our Vocational Training Centers is promising. He said the sector is expecting ICT equipment from the National Government under the jitume program.”
Internetsociety 2Director Digital Economy and Startup Elizabeth Ndungu , appreciating internet society foundation for the support they have given to the County. She said “that once you train a teacher, you can be sure that the entire ecosystem and community grows because their role is not to hold on to the information but share it out to the community as a whole.”

Elizabeth said “the main goal is to make sure that our vocational training centers are giving out market driven skills so that we can compete globally and other counties can learn from Nairobi.”
Internetsociety 4Esther Kioni from Internet Society Foundation said, “The foundation always emphasizes on learning as a lifelong journey, regardless of age.” She said It is heartening to see older individuals supporting the younger generation in e-learning matters, setting a positive example. “To those who have undergone this training, it’s essential to understand that Reinforced learning opens up new opportunities, such as promotions or even starting a new trajectory in their careers”
