Green Nairobi’s Climate Change unit partnered with Adaptation Consortium-ADA for a two day workshop to review Climate Change regulatory framework for enhanced response of Climate change issues in the City County.
Deputy Director Climate Change and Air Quality Monitoring Mr. Maurice Kavai said the regulatory frameworks once put in place will see Climate Change issues mainstreamed in all County activities.
“It will also provide for mechanism and measures to achieve low carbon climate development and financial mechanisms for the implementation of climate change adaptation activities and connected purpose.” He added.
Ms. Grace Ojiayo, Assistant Director of Climate Change and Air Quality Monitoring, highlighted that the County is making significant progress towards developing a comprehensive Climate Change legal framework.
Ms. Milka Chebii from Financial Sector Deepening (FSD) Kenya, commended the participants for their well informed and valuable contributions to the review process.
FSD is partnering with ADA towards scaling out Climate Change funds in Counties.
In attendance were Climate Change Unit Officers, Environment Officers and Nairobi County legal team.
