Dandora Stadium: A Beacon of Hope for Nairobi’s Sporting Future as Safaricom Chapa Dimba Tournament Kicks Off.

NAIROBI: 16th March 2024

The state of the art 4000 seater artificial turf stadium which was unveiled by Governor Sakaja a week ago, represents just the beginning of his vision for Nairobi as a City of opportunity as envisaged in his manifesto. His committed commitment to delivering similar sports centers in all sub-counties, with notable ones coming up in the next couple of months, City Stadium recently renamed Joe Kadenge is now under renovation, Mwiki Sports Complex, and Woodley sports complex where construction is underway are just the beginning of a new Chapter in Sports in the City.

Dandora Stadium opened its doors to the public on 8th March 2024. The opening ceremony which was presided over by the City boss H. E Governor Sakaja Johnson in an event that was packed with activities with residents from around the city expressing gratitude and excitement that finally they will be able to utilize the state of art stadium in Dandora.

The event gives Dandora another face that will change the perception of our community. This event symbolizes more than just a competition; it embodies the spirit of unity, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence.”

The Chief Officer said Dandora has a history that is unique and as we stand on the hallowed grounds of Dandora Stadium, we are reminded of the countless dreams that have been nurtured and realized on this very field. From humble beginnings to soaring heights, this stadium has been witness to the triumphs of our local talents.

It’s about instilling values of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship that will serve them well beyond the confines of the pitch. “Today as we send forth our teams, let us remember that they carry not only the hopes of their communities but also the aspirations of a nation. They are ambassadors of talent, perseverance, and the indomitable spirit that defines us as Kenyans.”

“To the young athletes, I say, seize this opportunity with all your might. Let every pass, every tackle, and every goal be a testament to your dedication and commitment. Remember, it’s not just about winning; it’s about giving your best and leaving everything on the field, it’s an opportunity to discover yourself get discovered and even explore monetizing sports as a career opportunity in itself. Sports has become one of the most lucrative ways of making money internationally” he added.

Chapa Dimba Tournament is Sponsored by Safaricom and has partnered with Nairobi City County has given Dandora stadium as the venue for the tournament as part of its support for youth even as they explore their future in sporting field and for them to experience international standards stadium within their locality.
