Nairobi City County’s Culture and Arts Department in Collaboration with the Godown Arts Centre and HEVA Fund held a workshop at Kariokor social hall for young men and women focused on enhancing financial opportunities and enabling access to dignified and fulfilling work in the creative and cultural industries in Nairobi.

With the creative industries facing numerous challenges, including limited access to funding, this initiative seeks to bridge that gap and foster growth within the sector.
These grants aim is to provide opportunities for individuals and groups to establish or grow their businesses, gain access to training and mentorship, and contribute to the development of the creative industry.
The Deputy Director for Culture Ms. Stella Kemunto said, “By providing essential information on funding opportunities and encouraging collaboration our aim as a County is to pave the way for a more vibrant and sustainable culture and arts sector. As creative entrepreneurs I urge you to digest the insights provided by this workshop, our hope is that many of you will take proactive steps towards securing the necessary resources to turn your visions into reality. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to nurturing creativity in Nairobi.”
Artists were informed about the specific eligibility requirements for both grants and loans, understanding these criteria was emphasized as crucial for successful applications.
