Nairobi, 11th October 2024
Nairobi County has successfully concluded its highly impactful Customer Service Week, held from October 7th to 11th, under the theme “Serving Nairobians Above and Beyond Expectations.”
A notable first from this year’s event was the significant contribution from the Innovation and Digital Economy (IDE) Sector. The IDE sector partnered with Karibu Connect, authorized resellers of Starlink products, to offer high-speed internet access to all attendees and staff throughout the week, setting a new standard for county-led initiatives.
Tiras Njoroge, County Chief Officer for Revenue Administration and Acting Chief Officer for ICT Infrastructure, stated, “Our partnership with Starlink to offer free internet during Customer Service Week is a significant step towards realizing our vision of a fully digital city. As His Excellency Governor Sakaja often emphasizes, our youth are the greatest resource in this city. By providing public WiFi, we aim to empower them and position ourselves at the forefront of this digital transformation. This initiative marks the beginning of that journey.”
The Starlink infrastructure provided fast and reliable connectivity at the venue, elevating the experience for both participants and county staff. This technological boost allowed residents to access online services, stream content, and share their experiences in real time without interruptions.
This collaboration between Nairobi City County and partners like Karibu Connect has set a new standard for future Customer Service Week events. It also aligns with the H.E Governor Sakaja Johnson’s vision of leveraging technology to transform public services and enhance the quality of life for all Nairobians.
By introducing innovations such as high-speed internet through Starlink, Nairobi is positioning itself as a leader in public service innovation and digital advancement across the continent.
