Addressing the staff also, the Environment Chief Officer Mr. Geoffrey Mosiria asked the officers to make maximum use of the Director’s, Chief Officer’s and CECM offices in addressing environment matters for smooth delivery of services.  He asked them to channel any political interference cases affecting and interfering with their work to his office and that of the County Executive Committee Member and Director, while at the same time warning them against involving themselves in corruption.

Mr. Mosiria also asked the environment officers to ensure timely submission of reports which are necessary to ensure right actions are taken and people receive services they require.
Climateworx 1To ensure that there were no gaps in service delivery, Mr. Malawi explained that moving forward the environment staff will be required to work from Monday to Sunday, with each staff working 40 hours in a week. To achieve this, he said that teams will be distributed to work in shifts, ensuring they are compensated with days off to avoid anyone being overworked.

“In our agreement with the County Union officials to implement this, we have ensured no violation of the staff. We are not mending the law but fitting into it. The staff will work on shift basis. They will be spread out in a manner that service delivery will not be affected”. Said Mr. Malawi.

All environment supervisors were tasked to come up with a duty roster with all staff working under them properly spread out to cover seven days a week, ensuring each works for 40 hours weekly.

Other speakers including Deputy and Assistant Directors, encouraged the staff to be creative and dynamic in execution of their duties.  They were also told to work closely with internal and external stakeholders for seamless delivery of services. The officers were further urged to engage more stakeholders towards enhancing the green cover by planting more trees and beautification on neighborhood parks, median Parks and roundabouts.
