Nairobi County Inaugurates Bondeni Early Childhood Development Centre to Boost Early Education and Talent Growth

County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Talent Skills Development and Care, Mr. Brian Mulama on behalf of H.E Governor Sakaja presided over the official opening of the Bondeni Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) Centre.

Built under the Ward Development fund and an initiative by the Kayole Central Member of the County Assembly, Hon Jeremiah Karani Themendu Aka Morefire, the new facility, located in Bondeni Primary School is a major milestone in the county’s efforts to enhance access to quality early childhood education and foster talent development from an early age.

During the event, Mr. Mulama emphasized the importance of early childhood development in shaping the future of young learners. He stated that the new Bondeni Pre-School is a vital step towards providing a nurturing environment where children can explore their talents, build foundational skills, and receive care that promotes their holistic growth. He highlighted the county’s commitment to investing in early education infrastructure as part of a broader strategy to develop well-rounded individuals with skills that will contribute to society’s future.

He reiterated the commitment by Governor Sakaja to build 500 ECD classrooms across all the 85 wards to accommodate the soaring number of learners enrolling in our schools after the introduction of the Dishi na County School feeding program. Plans to build 114 classrooms in the first phase underway. The plan is also have facilities include provisions for special needs children, ensuring inclusivity and equal opportunities for all learners.

The Bondeni ECDE Centre is equipped with modern classrooms, playgrounds, and learning materials designed to create an engaging and safe space for children.

Chief Officer ECD and Vocational Training Mr. Ahmed Abdi expressed confidence that the new Centre will not only enhance the learning experience for children but also provide relief for parents by offering quality care during the crucial early years of development. He reiterated the county’s dedication to establishing more ECDE Centres in various regions to support early talent identification and nurture skills that will set the foundation for future success.

The community welcomed the opening of the Bondeni Pre-School with enthusiasm, acknowledging it as a critical resource for child development and a step forward in improving educational outcomes. Mr. Mulama concluded his remarks by urging parents and teachers to work collaboratively to support the learners and maximize the potential of the new Centre.
