Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Subsector Chief Officer Ms. Gladwell Cheruiyot visited Nairobi Agricultural Show Ground at Jamuhuri to assess the status and progress of the agricultural exhibition plots ahead of the forthcoming Nairobi International Trade Fair Show slated to commence from 23rd to 29th September 2024.
Ms. Cheruiyot was taken around the Food and Agriculture Subsector exhibition plots and briefed on various agricultural activities that take place at the show ground.
Some of the urban agriculture technologies and innovation that will be showcased during the trade fair includes ;hydroponics, greenhouse farming, cone gardens Mandela gardens, wick gardens, multistorey gardens, vegetable and tree nurseries, organic farming technologies, emerging crops( dragon fruits),livestock fodder farming, fish farming like aquaculture, soil conservation technologies amongst many others.
Ms. Cheruiyot expressed her satisfaction for the progress made so far and appreciated the officers for their resilience and dedication in making sure that all is set for the upcoming agricultural trade fair, despite the financial challenges experienced.
This year’s theme is “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth”
The Chief Officer was accompanied by the County Director Crops and Forestry Development Ms. Mary Kibira, Director Livestock and Fisheries Development Ms. Margaret Ndumia, Deputy Director Veterinary Services Ms. Jane Mogute, the inchage Food and Agriculture Plots at the show ground Ms. Elizabeth Nzambuli among other agriculture Officers, who took her around the exhibition plots.
