Green Nairobi County Executive Committee Member Ms. Maureen Njeri has called on the Sub-County Environment Officers to work closely and maintain a good working relationship with other government authorities in the Sub-Counties in the spirit of harnessing a cordial working relationship for better services to the people of Nairobi.
Ms. Njeri made the remarks when she conducted an inspection tour of California Ward in Eastleigh to monitor the work done by the green army in the area which includes sweeping, litter picking, clearing the drainages and maintaining vegetation, as well as get to understand their challenges.
” If we diligently and consistently do our work the right way we will make things work in Nairobi.” she emphasized.
The Green Nairobi Executive Committee Member also paid a courtesy call to the area Chief Ms. Angela Nzioki and assured her that the green army will be distributed properly in the area for their visibility and impact to be felt.
“You need to get committed with your work. Plan and execute your work properly to make the people of Nairobi proud.” Ms. Njeri told the environment officers.
For accountability purposes, it was agreed that all sub county ward environment officers will be sending a daily distribution list of work areas allocated to each green army staff.
Ms. Njeri noted that there is still a lot of work to be done on the major road corridors in terms of sustenance of the cleaning works undertaken.
As part of the planned site visits, Ms. Njeri also toured Dandora dumpsite to inspect the daily operations. She was briefed on the challenges facing the County’s final dumpsite.
