Nairobi County Executive Brian Mulama Explores Strategic Partnership with Age Watch Foundation to Enhance Welfare of Older Persons

County Executive for Talent Skills Development and Care Brian Mulama held a meeting with Age Watch Foundation on possible partnership on matters that address older person’s welfare. Nairobi City County has strong commitment in advancing the well-being of older persons, a demographic that, as we all know, plays a vital role in our communities yet often faces significant challenges.

Speaking at the meeting the County Executive said “With rapid urbanization and evolving social dynamics, older persons often find themselves marginalized, facing issues ranging from inadequate healthcare and poverty to social isolation and lack of support systems. Addressing these challenges will require a collaborative approach and it is critical to have this conversation.”

Mr. Mulama said “This partnership aims to leverage the strengths of both the Social Services Sub-Sector and Age Watch Africa Foundation to create sustainable programs that enhance the quality of life for older persons in Nairobi.” He also said together, we can address key areas that affect older persons such as healthcare, social protection, and community engagement, ensuring that our older population receives the care, respect, and opportunities they deserve.

“We believe that through joint efforts, we can develop and implement programs that will have a lasting and meaningful impact. This partnership aligns with our broader mission of fostering an inclusive society where every individual, regardless of age, can live with dignity and purpose.” He said

The County Executive reiterated that Age Watch Africa Foundation willingness to partner with us shows confidence in this collaboration, we will not only strengthen our efforts but also pave the way for innovative solutions that will benefit our older citizens.

Richard Waindi Age Watch Foundation CEO expressed his gratitude to the Nairobi County Government for the opportunity to partner on programs that addresses the older persons wellbeing. He emphasized the key areas of partnership being;

  • Geriatric care for Older Persons.
  • Residential care support
  • Capacity building and awareness creation for care givers.
