Preparations for Nairobi Job Fair in High gear

Nairobi, 27th August 2024

Chief Executive Committee Member for Talent, Skills Development, and Care, Mr. Brian Mulama, led a key preparation meeting today for the upcoming Nairobi Job Fair, scheduled for 19th September 2024 at Kiwanja Grounds. This event aims to connect vocational trainees from Nairobi’s eight Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) with industry stakeholders, aligning with H.E Governor Johnson Sakaja’s manifesto to reduce youth unemployment and boost local economic growth.

“This job fair is a vital step in creating real opportunities for our youth,” stated Mr. Mulama. “By showcasing their skills to industry leaders, we are paving the way for sustainable livelihoods, which will, in turn, strengthen our communities and contribute to Nairobi’s economic development.”

Over 1,000 students will participate, with the event also featuring tree planting to support Nairobi County’s climate initiatives. The fair will be publicized through county social channels and local radio stations to maximize community engagement and attendance.
Nrbjobfair 2Mr. Mulama also announced plans for an annual apprenticeship program to provide hands-on experience for VTC graduates within county departments, further enhancing their employability and ensuring they can contribute effectively to the local economy.

Key partners in this initiative include (Shofco) Shining Hope for Communities and NO ONE OUT through the InJob Project. Shofco, known for its community-based approach to empowerment, will play a crucial role in mobilizing participants and providing logistical support.

Meanwhile, NO ONE OUT, through its InJob Project, is focused on bridging the gap between education and employment, ensuring that the youth gain practical skills that meet market demands. Their collaboration is instrumental in making the Nairobi Job Fair a platform that fosters long-term career opportunities for the youth.
