Nairobi City County to form a multi-agency team to enforce licensing and regulation of liquor businesses across the county.

The Nairobi County will soon put in place a multi-agency team that includes the National Police Service in its bid to enforce licensing and regulation of Liquor business across the county.

Speaking at a roundtable interaction with liquor board staff, the Executive Member for Business and Hustler Opportunities Sector, Dr. Anastasia Nyalita, accompanied by the new Business and Hustler Opportunities Sub-Sector Chief Officer, Mr. Boniface Nyamu, said the sector will explore ways to optimize enforcement beyond normal working hours.

Nyalita said, “I am aware of the strides the liquor board has made in the fight against drug and alcohol abuse by setting up the Sinai Rehabilitation Center, the first of its kind, with plans in top gear to establish a methadone clinic in Mutuini as well. We will bring onboard all the necessary departments to ensure each department is a success and Nairobi Works.”
Multiagencyteam 6Chief Officer Nyamu assured the officers from Licensing, Enforcement, and City Inspectorate of Governor Sakaja’s support against any form of interference in carrying out their mandate.

Nyamu said, “We have put in place mechanisms to propel the sub-sector into surpassing their 2024/25 FY revenue targets.”

Also present were Ms. Rhoda Otieno, the Director of the Liquor Board, Mr. Kelvin Ouma, Assistant Director of Liquor Licensing, Mr. Humphrey Wambugu, Assistant Director of Administrative Services (ADAS), among others.
