Speaking as she finalized her familiarization tour of county markets that she commenced last week with a tour to Karen, Mutuini and Karandini, Executive Member for Business and Hustler Opportunities Sector, Dr. Anastasia Nyalita, said that contractors finishing their mandates on time will enable the county to create more job opportunities for Nairobi residents in a humane and orderly manner.
During her tour of Jujo, Ruai, Kahawa West, and Mathare area 4 markets, and the CAIP project site also in Mathare area, which awaits review of architectural plans for submission to the cabinet before a stakeholders’ engagement for resource mobilization, Dr. Nyalita said plans are also underway to relocate Ruai traders to their rightful marketplace away from the road reserve that poses a risk to both traders and customers.
“Governor Sakaja’s administration is committed to ensuring Nairobi works and finding a permanent solution to traders’ plight is dear to his heart, and he pledges his total support,” said Nyalita. “I have keenly listened to every need of each market and will work towards addressing the issues raised and upscaling revenue collection required to offer service delivery.”
