County Chief Officer for Economic Planning, Mr. John Lintari held a meeting with Heads of Economic Affairs; Economic Planning, and Budget, together with the sub sector staff.
The meeting was also graced by H.E. Governor Sakaja, who underscored the critical importance of the “Nairobi Vision 2050,” a blueprint for the development of the city. “The Vision 2050 plan is pivotal for our development,” he stated. He urged the economic planning department to ensure the vision is developed this year and ensure its successful implementation thereafter.
Mr. Lintari emphasized the necessity of teamwork, highlighting the crucial roles that the Economic Affairs Sub Sector plays in shaping Nairobi County’s future. He expressed his commitment to devising a strategy to increase the number of personnel within the sub sector. “We need to foster a more productive workplace culture, and I am urging everyone to embrace innovative ideas to address recurring issues. Professionalism must be our priority. We must adopt a mantra of duty and adaptability, as our ability to adapt is key to delivering great service. Leadership must start at the top and cascade down”.
Head of County Budget, Ms. Nancy Kiruri provided an overview of the upcoming County Budget Review and Outlook Paper (CBROP). “We need to prepare for the presentation to the Cabinet by 31st September and to the Nairobi County Assembly by October 21st,” she said.
She highlighted the importance of sectors submitting their budget reports on time with the help of their respective budget officers.
Director for Economic Planning, Mr. Geoffrey Sianga announced that a draft document of the Annual Development Plan (ADP) 2025/26 is ready and uploaded to the county website in readiness for the upcoming public participation.
Mr. Sianga outlined the agenda for public participation, emphasizing the need for technical budget officers to lead in the dissemination of the draft. He proposed utilizing digital platforms such as X Spaces and YouTube to facilitate public engagement from homes or businesses. “We have agreed that the public participation will be conducted in all the 17 sub-counties from 9 a.m. Feedback will be incorporated into our planning efforts,” he concluded.
