The newly appointed Chief Officer for Markets and Trade, Ms. Jane Wangui, held a familiarization tour at the Weights and Measures department.
Speaking during the tour, Chief Wangui acknowledged the challenges faced by the department in carrying out their mandate, which include:
- Lack of transport during inspections and verification of weighing and measuring instruments.
- Lack of training for recruited officers to perform duties.
- Inadequate budget.
“I pledge my total support in ensuring the department is among the best-performing departments,” Wangui said. “This will upscale revenue collection that will ensure H.E. Governor Johnson Sakaja delivers on his promise of making Nairobi a City of Hope, Order, Dignity, and Opportunities for all.”In attendance were the Director of Weights and Measures, Mr. Benedict Bwire, and other staff from the department
