Nairobi, 31st May 2024
Nairobi County Executive in charge of Inclusivity, Public Participation and Customer Service, Dr. Anastasia Nyalita attended the Open Government Partnership Multi Stakeholders Forum, MSF aimed at monitoring the progress on the development of an action plan which ensures the county’s commitment and participation in the OGP local initiative.
The County entered into a collaboration with the Oslo Centre and other various stakeholders on Open Government Partnership, OGP and therefore the MSF is a mandatory process for each participating Government’s successful participation in the OGP process.
Its four key priority areas that have been identified for inclusion in the action plan for the period of 2024-2027 are; public participation, citizen engagement & civic education, open contracting, open data for civic education and building open government resilience.
During her address Dr. Nyalita said, “Recognizing true multi stakeholders the county government considers civil society organizations and other Non-state actors in our endeavors. By collaborating with all stakeholders to actively support and engage in initiatives related to civic education, democratic processes, good governance and delivery of essential services we aim to build a sense of community and empower our residents.
“I would like to thank the national government agencies that are here for your dedication and also appreciate the unwavering support of all stakeholders present and urge you to continue with the good work as we work on the final Action Plan to be presented to H.E the Governor. I encourage you all to keep moving forward with my assurance of the county’s commitment and support as we serve humanity and the residents of Nairobi.”
The co-created action plan is co-implemented with non-state actors making it possible for the government to leverage their fundraising, investment, human resource and technology to advance its open government priorities as contained in the action plan.
