As part of the Innovation and Digital Economy (IDE) sector’s effort to ensure efficient management and maintenance of county technology resources, the sector is conducting an inventory exercise of all county technology equipment.
During a one-day training session for IDE officers on inventory collection, Loyce Musangi, Assistant Director of Information Security, stated that the inventory of assets, including software and hardware, will run until June 2024. She emphasized the importance of accuracy in the inventory process and urged the appointed staff to be through in their work.
“The objective of this exercise is to maintain and utilize ICT assets effectively, accurately catalogue all technology assets, establish an up-to-date record of all technology assets owned by the county, and identify underutilized equipment that can be repurposed to optimize resource allocation. Additionally, this exercise will ensure compliance with software licensing agreements, facilitate better planning for technology upgrades and replacements based on the age and condition of equipment, and strengthen cybersecurity measures by identifying and addressing any vulnerabilities associated with outdated or unsupported technology,” said Ms. Musangi.
The training covered essential procedures and best practices for inventory collection.
