Social Services Sub-Sector embarks on Sensitization of internal stakeholders

Social Services Sub-Sector has begun a sensitization for departments on older person’s policy to get their input to improve on the policy.

The Chief Officer George Mutiso said the collaboration between HelpAge International Kenya and the sector has seen development of a policy for older persons which is in its final stages. Help Age graciously agreed to support Older Persons Policy and also assist the County in the implementation process once complete. This partnership marks a significant step forward in our ongoing commitment to improving the lives of our elderly citizens.
Socialserv 2He said HelpAge brings with them a wealth of experience and resources. Their expertise in elder care, innovative health solutions, and community support initiatives will be invaluable as we strive to create a society where our elders are not only cared for but are also active, respected members of our community.

Rose Bwire from HelpAge International Kenya, said “We are all candidates of old age and therefore implementing comprehensive measures designed to address the unique needs of our older population is inevitable, this includes enhancing healthcare services, providing more accessible housing, ensuring economic stability, and fostering social inclusion. Many cultures, including our own, respect for our elders is a cornerstone of society.
Socialserv 4A collaboration is also underway between Nairobi City County and China African Business Council. This was confirmed by Chief Officer Social Services George Mutiso China African Business Council have recognized the importance of this mission. Their support will enable us to improve our facilities. This collaboration is a partnership that will go a long way in improving and providing more accessible services to older persons in Nairobi, it is a testament to the shared values and mutual respect between our nations. “Said the Chief Officer.

Present were Assistant Directors, Fredrick Ogutu Family Welfare, Rosemary Kibathi, Chidren Rehabilitation, and Evans Mogire Legal among others.
