Nairobi County and Huduma Centre Kenya Team Up for CBD Cleanup Ahead of World Environment Day

Nairobi County Environment department partnered with Huduma Centre Kenya in a cleanup exercise in the Central Business District (CBD).

The cleaning took place along Moi Avenue, Muindi Bingu street,Muhkutar street  and Jeevanjee gardens.

The cleaning exercise included street sweeping, liter picking and waste collection. It aimed at enhancing cleanliness in the CBD and raising awareness on the importance and impact of a healthy environment.
Cbdcleanup 2County Deputy Director for Environmental Monitoring, Compliance and Enforcement Mr. Kevin Oloitiptip said the County was honored to partnering with Huduma Kenya in cleaning the City, adding that such partnerships are so important and their impacts are greatly felt.

He said that waste is everyone’s responsibility and that is the message the county is trying to drive out there.

“This is just one of the many activities line up as Pre Activities for World Environment Day that will be celebrated on 5th June.” Said Mr. Oloitiptip.
Cbdcleanup 10Huduma Kenya Ag. Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mugambi Njeru said that the organization looks forward to collaborate with the County for monthly clean ups which will go up to ward level. He stressed that a clean environment is everyone’s responsibility, hence people should not just sit and complain.

Present during the clean-up exercise were; Assistant Environment Officer in charge of Starehe Subcounty, Mr. Duncan  Miheso, Kamukuji Chief Environment Officer Mr. Noah Ng’eno, other Starehe Subcounty  Environment Officers and National government officials.
