Deputy Governor H.E Njoroge Muchiri today led a team from Nairobi City County in a meeting to discuss issues affecting small traders in the Capital City at the Office of the Deputy President, Harambee Annex-Nairobi.
This is an ongoing discussion on interventions to enhance the business landscape in the Capital City.
The genesis of the discussion was a resolution from a meeting between Government Agencies and small traders in Nairobi that was chaired by the Deputy President H.E Rigathi Gachagua early in the month of April, 2024.
Drawn from importers, traders and Government Agencies, the parties formed multi agency teams to address specific issues and come up with resolutions for implementing on the issues affecting small traders
Nairobi business traders form part of Kenya’s Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) majority of whom operate in the informal sector which is an essential driver of Kenya’s economy.
Nairobi City County Government is a major stakeholder in the businesses and the business landscape in the city, and will continue to be at the forefront in supporting the business environment for a thriving economy.
The meeting was chaired by the Chief of Staff Office of the Deputy President Ms. Wanjiku Wakogi , in the presence of senior government officials, representatives of state regulatory bodies and representatives of the small business traders.
Present from Nairobi City County Government was: County Executive Committee Member for Business and Hustler opportunities, Ms. Maureen Njeri and Director of Administration Office of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Lukas Ngaruiya.
