Nairobi, 22nd April 2024
County Department of Environment has commenced issuance of the third round of assorted Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and Uniforms to the Green Army staff across the 17 Sub-Counties.
Early today, Director Environment Mr. John Paul Malawi issued uniforms and PPEs to the environment staff in Langata and Kibra Sub-Counties. He noted that the PPEs are very essential for their personal safety and the uniforms necessary for branding purposes and for ease of identification of the environment staff.
“We are issuing 3000 number uniforms and assorted PPEs to our Green Army staff in all Sub Counties to ensure they are protected against exposure to environmental health hazards in the line of their work. We have started with Langata and Kibra Sub Counties today, and plan to distribute to all other Sub Counties during the week. This will improve efficiency and effectiveness of our staff and in turn improve on productivity in service delivery.” Said Mr. Malawi.
The Environment Director urged the Green Army to always put on their branded uniforms while at work for ease of identification. “Every support staff must be branded for ease of identification and to ensure brand visibility.” He added.
Mr. Malawi also mentioned that the environment staff will receive tools and mechanized equipment such as brush cutters to enhance productivity.
Director Malawi called on the staff to uphold high standards of discipline at work, observe punctuality and ensure seamless service delivery to Nairobi County residents.
“Going forward, service delivery will be measurable. There will be specific targets that must be achieved. The targets are fair and measurable and must be achieved.” Mr. Malawi told the staff.
He also appreciated Governor Sakaja for the recruitment of the youth and giving them a chance to work for the County, stating that Green Army is one of the biggest investment and important resource in the Green Nairobi Sector. “I am convinced that nothing we do is more important than hiring and developing people. At the end of the day we bet on people and strategies.” He noted.
Mr. Malawi was accompanied by Sub County Administrators Ms. Janet Kimeu (Langata) and Ms. Miriam Munywoki (Kibra), Chief Environment Officers, Ward Environment Officers and Ward Administrators and other Sub County staff.
