Nairobi County Innovation and Digital Economy staff have undergone a capacity building session on data protection and information security conducted by Oracle Kenya team led by Technology Account Manager, Strategic Accounts, Nairobi, 5th April, 2024- Nairobi County Innovation and Digital Economy staff have undergone a capacity building session on data protection and information security conducted by Oracle Kenya team led by Technology Account Manager, Strategic Accounts, Sheila Maweu.
County Director for ICT Infrastructure, Truphena Ogonda shared that In any organization, data is key and it is the responsibility of an organization to protect it from being lost or stolen and ending up in the wrong hands.
“In today’s digital age, data has become an incredibly valuable resource. While data remains precious, there is recognition that it must be handled with great care. That is why as a sector, we have partnered with Oracle who have a standing reputation as multinational computer technology corporation and has assisted businesses manage and organize their data more effectively with some of their best tools” she said.
The interactive workshop that took place at Oracle Kenya offices saw the officers taken through an in-depth understanding of data protection and security for modern enterprises.
Ms. Sheila Maweu said “We are always looking forward to learn from our customers, we do not know the value of our solutions until we see the reactions and feedback from our customers based on the challenges they are addressing using our solutions”.
The Oracle team covered various topics on Data Protection, Overview of Kenya Data Protection Act, Protecting and securing data with Oracle Maximum Security Architecture, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Maximum value on Oracle investment with Customer Success services among others.
In addition the team was able to cover Identity and Access Management, a critical aspect of any data protection and security program, to provide valuable insight into the latest best practice and tools available to secure organization’s data and infrastructure.
Present were Innovation and Digital Economy County Technical officers in charge of Information Security, Assistant Director information security Ms. Loise Musangi, Database and applications , Paul Kiiru, Systems Security, Robert Okiri, Data Centre, Alfred Wandera, County website and emails, Stephen Kirwa and other county officers, Oracle Principal Technology Solution Engineer, Marion Karanja, Principal Technology Architect, Martin Waigwa, Principal Solutions Specialist Engineer, Philip Ndegwa, Technical Account Manager – Customer Success Services, Alex Kibe among others.
