Nairobi County To Partner With Safaricom For Chapa Dimba

Safaricom Chapa Dimba is a prestigious national football tournament focused on giving youth aged 16-20 the opportunity to showcase and nurture their talent. Since its launch in April 2023, Season 4 has successfully involved over 55,000 young participants from across the country. Having conducted events in six regions to date the Nairobi Regional Finals marks a significant step towards the National Finals in April 2024.

Nairobi City County is in discussions to forge a partnership with Safaricom where the County is expected to launch the newly constructed Dandora stadium during the finals of Nairobi Region Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament to be held in March 2024.
Safchapadimba5The County Executive for Talent Skills Development and Care, Rosemary Kariuki Said the County is keen to hold the Chapa Dimba Nairobi Regional Finals at Dandora Stadium with the proposed timelines from next month when the Nairobi region finals will be held. She said that the stadium is ready for use and is expected to be launched during the Chapa Dimba tournament.
Safchapadimba6The County Executive said the County is open to discussions with Safaricom on potential branding opportunities during the regional final events which could include roadshow activations, digital marketing, and on-ground presence during the games. “Together, Safaricom and the Nairobi City County are not just organizing a football tournament, we are creating opportunities. Opportunities for young Kenyans to showcase their skills, for aspiring coaches to hone their craft, and for communities to come together in support of our youth. This partnership is about more than just kicking a ball—it’s about kicking down barriers, breaking stereotypes, and building a brighter future for the next generation.” She added.

Igaida who was present in the meeting said “By joining forces, Safaricom and the Nairobi City County are leveraging our resources, expertise, and networks to reach more young people across Nairobi. By providing access to training, mentorship, and exposure that will not only enhance their football skills but also equip them with invaluable life lessons—discipline, teamwork, resilience—that will serve them well beyond the pitch.
