Nairobi City County Government is committed to ensuring its traders earn a living in an orderly and humane manner, enabling increased revenue collection to facilitate efficient service delivery.
Executive Member for Business and Hustler Opportunities, Ms. Maureen Njeri speaking at a meeting that brought together officers from the Kenya Police Service, KENHA, the County Assembly, and representatives of the Ruai market traders whose structures were on the road reserve said, KENHA plans to secure the road reserve by putting in measures to enhance the safety of the traders.
Said Njeri, ”The road reserve will also pave way for the expansion of Kangundo Road to accommodate more traffic from motorists and the County is committed to finding a lasting solution for the traders who have faced frequent uncertainties”
“We look forward to coordinating with all Government agencies on matters affecting the Mwananchi to prevent unrest. As agreed during public participation, we want to immediately begin relocating the traders to the proposed market site at Ruai bypass. “Added Executive Njeri.
She also said that, Governor Johnson Sakaja prioritizes the interests of business owners across the county and will always lend a listening ear. Ms. Njeri highlighted the recently launched Unified Business Permit, which allows residents to pay for licenses conveniently from home or seek guidance at Sub County Headquarters.
Also in attendance was Ms. Joyce Kyengo the Director Markets, Mr. Joab Ogolla the Ruai Ward Administrator, Officers from Security and Compliance, Revenue, Investigations, Lands, Planning among others.
