KITUI, AUGUST 15, 2020, GPS
“You are either with us, or against us.”
That is the famous quote by former US President George Bush that Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Saturday used to whip MCAs into working as a unit.
Speaking during the burial of Patrick Mwangangi in Kyanika village, Kitui county, Sonko said for a county to move forward, there must be peace, love and harmony.
“Now that there is a new speaker in the Nairobi County Assembly, this is the time to start on a clean slate, avoid pettiness and work together as a unit for the people of Nairobi,” said Sonko.
Mwangangi is the former Nairobi county procurement director.
Sonko, in his speech, said those who are against development in Nairobi, are against the people of Nairobi.
“We must move in one direction. I keep on referring to the famous quote by former US president George bush, “You’re either with us, or against us” as a sign of democracy. Those who are against development are enemies of the state,” he said.
The Governor was accompanied by several MCAs and other county officials.
Earlier in the day, Sonko attended the wedding of Jaskirat Kaur and Jagbir Singh Main, who is the son of his longtime friend Malkit Singh.
The wedding took place at Ramgarhia Sikh Temple in Pangani, where he was accompanied by ODM chief Raila Odinga’s wife, Ida, Christina Pratt Kenyatta and Statehouse comptroller Kinuthia Mbugua.
Sonko congratulated the newlyweds and wished them best of luck in their life.
