Acting Nairobi City County Secretary Dr. Jairus Musumba today attended the Information, Communication and Technology and eGovernment (ICT & eGovernment) sector working group retreat on ICT policy.
The session which was Chaired by Mr. Peter Mukenya, Chief Officer, ICT & e Government, reviewed amongst other things the Annual Development Plan(ADP), project implementation, preparation of the MTEF, implementation matrix of the proposed NRS service, ICRMS, LAIFOMS, e-Development and GIS system.
Said County Executive ICT and e Government, Mr. Newton Munene, “The sector Working Groups is mainly a technical working forum through which the sector reviews performance with key Directors and leadership teams in the sector and recommends areas of improvement as well as how to work across various sectors within Nairobi County to enable it plan and prioritize according to strategic plans and development programs.”
Acting County Secretary, Dr. Jairus Musumba called upon the sector to continue putting in the hard work despite challenges faced. “ICT holds particular promise in areas of governance and public participation. ICT also affects government operations by improving responsiveness, increases efficiency and enhances governance practices. We will give you unconditional support in order for this sector to continue thriving and facilitating online transactions which is key to boosting revenue collections and providing gateway solutions, Government subsidy transfers in order to continue enhancing efficiency and productivity in Government and public sector units.”
Chief Officer Mr. Peter Mukenya reiterated that ICT and eGovernment was an important component as it would facilitate newer, better and quicker ways for Nairobi County to interact with its customers hence providing ease of doing business. This year we will unveil our state of the art computer lab amongst other products lined up before the end of this financial year.”
The ICT and e Government houses eGovernment, eLearning and Public Communication. Nairobi County Chief of Staff, Mutunga Mutungi was also in attendance.
