Nairobi, 25th October, 2022
This afternoon Nairobi City County Governor, Sakaja Johnson accompanied President William Ruto to the to Kibra Constituency in Nairobi where the President launched Soweto East Zone B Social Housing Programme.
Said Governor Sakaja, “In line with our resolve for a citizen-focused approach to affordable housing, I will ensure the restoration of a life of dignity for the people of Nairobi.”
Additionally, “I have just seen a budget which is allocating Sh500 million for the construction of governors’ and deputy governors’ houses. I have asked that the amounts are reallocated to other priority projects like construction of markets and creation of jobs for our young people.”
Local manufacturers and Jua Kali sector artisans are expected to provide various construction materials, as the Government’s seeks to turn the housing challenge into an economic opportunity and spur job creation.
Soweto B is the second Affordable Housing Project the President has launched since he was sworn into office. President Ruto is seeking to make Nairobi the Centre of Affordable Housing Projects.
Nairobi will have five ongoing projects for a total of 29,026 units by December.
