Roysambu Sub-County Liquor Stakeholders Meeting Held to Enhance Compliance and Awareness

In line with Governor Sakaja’s vision of fostering a City of order and dignity, the County Executive Committee Member for Business and Hustler Opportunities Dr. Anastasia Nyalita officiated during a stakeholders meeting that brought together key County and National government officials and Roysambu Sub County Liquor stakeholders to discuss liquor compliance, licensing, noise pollution, and ways of fostering responsible business practices.

Dr. Nyalita urged the stakeholders to comply with the county liquor directives, highlighting that compliance would generate revenue for rehabilitation centers, outreach programs, and liquor-related tournaments, all supporting Governor Sakaja’s transformative agenda for Nairobi’s growth and community well-being.

“By engaging with our stakeholders, we aim to create a thriving and harmonious community that respects the well-being of residents and fosters a conducive business environment.” Added Dr. Nyalita.
Subcountyliquor 4The County Director for Liquor Ms. Rhoda Otieno highlighted the importance of stakeholders understanding liquor laws, noting that knowledge fosters compliance, reduces conflicts, and promotes responsible operations. She encouraged traders to stay informed on licensing regulations to safeguard their businesses from legal challenges.

The Vice Chairperson for Liquor Board, Ms. Judith Nyangi stressed the importance of compliance, calling upon traders to operate within legal frameworks. She encouraged them to report any cases of harassment, assuring them of the board’s commitment to addressing issues promptly and ensuring fairness in enforcement.

Roysambu Sub County Environment officials highlighted the negative impact of noise pollution on community health. They advised bar owners to install soundproofing, control late-night noise, and comply with regulations adding that non-compliance will attract fines or business closures in an endeavor to promote responsible entertainment that respects residents’ peace and well-being.

Roysambu Sub-County Administrator Ms. Jane Munyiri assured stakeholders of fair regulation, emphasizing the county’s commitment to supporting responsible alcohol businesses.

The Area MCA, Hon. Sospeter Mumbi, commended the forum’s impact, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between leaders and liquor stakeholders. He assured traders of his support in advocating for fair policies, fostering responsible alcohol trade, and ensuring a conducive business environment across Roysambu.
Subcountyliquor 9Assistant County Commissioner, Mr. Samuel underlined the importance of transparency and accountability in liquor-related matters. He encouraged stakeholders to follow due process and maintain high standards of integrity in their businesses, which will help in building a positive reputation for the industry.

The Stakeholders appreciated Governor Sakaja’s leadership, and requested that liquor-related disputes be handled at City Hall Courts since liquor matters are devolved functions. They also praised his efforts in improving Roysambu through environmental clean-ups and fostering a supportive business environment. They committed to complying with county laws, promising to work closely with the administration to promote responsible alcohol consumption and sustainable community development.
