Nairobi Deputy Governor and acting Governor Ann Kananu Mwenda was today amongst ten County heads who hosted British High Commissioner to Kenya, Ms Jane Marriott to the Central Region Economic Bloc (CEREB) Governors VIP Lunch at the Aberdare Country Club in Nyeri County.
The Central Region Economic Bloc (CEREB) comprises of ten counties namely, Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a, Nakuru, Nyandarua, Nyeri and Tharaka Nithi. CEREB has a population of 10.7 Million as per the Population Census of 2019. The region has a GDP of $20.54 billion (Ksh 2.12T) and would be ranked as number 113 out of 217 Countries taking the place of Papua New Guinea. In Africa, its economy number 4 larger than Rwanda & Burundi.
Speaking after the event Ms Kananu said that there was need to leverage on economies of scale through the implementation of joint projects/activities, as and where necessary, to supplement what individual counties will do towards improving the livelihoods of the people of these counties.
