Nairobi County’s Chief Officer Spearheads Bursary Verification Drive Across 85 Wards: Emphasizes Impact on Future Generations

NAIROBI: 13th March, 2024

County Chief Officer for Early Childhood Development Education and Vocational Training Mr. Ahmed Abdi is leading a bursary technical team composed of Education Officers and finance in all the Wards in the City in an exercise of receiving and verifying of the ward bursary forms from the 85 wards. The ward Bursary forms are distributed through the area Members of County Assembly (MCA) to the needy and performing students in every ward in Nairobi.
Busaryteam8The Chief Officer while on a tour of the collection Centres said, “The impact of the bursary program extends far beyond financial support. By investing in education, we are investing in the future of our society. These bursaries enable students to pursue their academic aspirations, unlock their full potential, and become productive citizens and positively contribute to the development of Nairobi County and beyond.”

Mr. Abdi said “Through a transparent and merit-based selection process, the Nairobi County ward bursary program ensures that funds are allocated to the most deserving students. This not only fosters fairness but also instills trust in the community that their contributions are making a tangible difference in the lives of deserving individuals.”

He said “Even as we celebrate the strides made through the Governor Sakaja’s Scholarship program and the ward bursary, we must also acknowledge the challenges that lie ahead. The demand for educational assistance often outweighs the available resources, highlighting the need for continuous support and collaboration from both public and private stakeholders.
Busaryteam10Mr. Abdi urged stakeholders to also support the county. “As we move forward, let us reaffirm our commitment to ensuring equal access to education for all residents of Nairobi County. Let us work together to expand the reach of the bursary program, identify innovative solutions to address emerging needs, and empower the next generation to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.” He further said.

The Chief Officer was accompanied by Director City Education Ms. Ruth Owuor, Deputy Directors Peter Miano and Raphael Kinyungu.
