Nairobi County, Chief of staff Mr. Paul Mutunga Mutungi together with CECM Janet Ouko received the overall team trophy at the just concluded eighth edition of the Kenya Inter County Sports and Cultural Association (Kicosca) games that kicked off Monday at Embu Stadium which Nairobi County emerged victorious.
Said CECM Sports Janet Ouko, “When the team was flagged off by Governor Ann Kananu, we promised to win every trophy available. And we have just done that. I am very proud of our Colleagues that bravely and passionately fought hard to ensure our flag Is hoisted high.”
Nairobi County emerged overall winners with 25 medals including 15 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.
Said Mutunga Mutungi, Chief of Staff, “H.E the Governor is extremely proud of your achievements and respective performances during the duration of the games and cannot wait for you to get back to Nairobi to officially fete you. You have done Nairobi County proud. We are all very proud of you. Congratulations for also maintaining high discipline during the duration of the event. For those who did not win. We are proud of you. Getting to Embu is an achievement worthy of praise.”
Twenty six teams took part in the games which was to be held last year, but was postponed twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Twenty three county governments and three state departments participated in the one-week tournament that involved twenty one sporting disciplines including Volleyball, mixed relay, tug of war, athletics, netball, athletics, basketball, draught, ajua, scrabble, chess and traditional dances.
