With the continued increase of road crash fatalities and injuries recorded each year across the country, the Nairobi County Executive Committee Member for Mobility and Works Mr. Ibrahim Auma has urged the City road users to prioritize safety on the roads, emphasizing that every life matters.
According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) report, Nairobi County leads in road accident fatalities and injuries, particularly among the vulnerable road users who are primarily pedestrians and motorcyclists.
Speaking when he chaired the second County Transport and Safety Committee (CTSC) meeting aimed at exploring actionable strategies to enhance road safety in Nairobi County, Mr. Auma stressed on the importance of individual responsibility and collective action in promoting road safety, calling all the road users to adhere to road safety rules.

“As we approach the festive season I want to urge everyone to prioritize safety on our roads because every life matters. Let us make Nairobi roads safer together”. Mr. Auma said.
The meeting which brought together key stakeholders including; Kenya police service ( Traffic Nairobi area),public transport stakeholders, NTSA secretariat, Nairobi County security and compliance officers, representatives for people living with disabilities, the regional commissioner and transport expert nominee, highlighted the pressing need to tackle the City’s high road fatality rates as the country approaches the festive season, underscoring the importance of data driven solutions in safeguarding all road users.
The County Safety Transport and Safety Committee which is guided by NTSA Act, is tasked with analyzing accident data, implementing intervention measures, conducting road safety audits and ensuring county’s transport systems are safe and efficient for all.
