NAIROBI CITY COUNTY VALUATION TEAM HOLDS SENSITIZATION FORUM FOR COUNTY ASSEMBLY MEMBERS ON THE ROLLOUT OF NEW VALUATION ROLL.

Nairobi, 22nd February, 2021

Nairobi City County valuation team today marked a major milestone as they held a sensitization forum for Nairobi City County Assembly members as they prepare to rollout the new valuation Roll for Nairobi City.

Speaking at the forum, Acting County Secretary Dr Jairus Musumba commended the working relationship between the Nairobi County Government, Nairobi Metropolitan Services and the National Government, which has seen great strides achieved in the process of implementing the new valuation roll.

Said Musumba “I call upon our members of the County Assembly to own and support the document considering the gains embedded in the Valuation Roll document. Key among them increased revenue to the County.

The Valuation for Rating Act (Cap 266) Section 9 (2) requires that on completion, the Valuation Roll is tabled before the County Assembly and later made public. Today’s engagement is an assurance that we are on the right track since the key drivers of the agenda are on board and thus together we will deliver to Nairobi Residents as promised”.

In his remarks, the Speaker of Nairobi County Assembly Hon. Benson Mutura said that the members of the County Assembly will be at the forefront to ensure a smooth process in the implementation of the new Valuation Roll.

The MCA’s will play a major role of spearheading public participation in their areas of jurisdiction.

The law requires that main Valuation Rolls’ be prepared after every 10 years and updated annually through supplementary Valuation Roll.

The Valuation Roll currently in use, was prepared in 1980 and implemented in 1982.
