Nairobi City County Government has finished formulating the concept document to give guidance on the construction of a Wood, Furniture and Metal Works County Aggregated and Industrial Park in the Mathare area under the County Aggregation and Industrial Parks(CAIP) project.
Speaking at a workshop in Mombasa that brought together a design team, Internal and External Stakeholders tasked to develop the master plan, detailed designs as it awaits a Geotechnical Survey of the site and eventually, finalize on a detailed Bill of Quantities for procurement, Business and Hustlers Opportunities Executive Member Ms. Maureen Njeri commended the team for working tirelessly to beat strict deadlines towards making the project a success.
Said Ms. Maureen Njeri,” We are privileged as a County that under the CAIP project, a Partnership between the National and County Governments, Nairobi County is among the 27 priority Counties to undertake the project ,which will see it construct the first Wood and Furniture Industry in the Country that will produce standardized products with affordable housing project being one of the major target clients among many other unexploited markets, after the consent of Mwananchi through Public Participation.

Added Executive Maureen Njeri,” The purpose of this workshop is to also ensure that as a County we are aligned in terms of conditions to be met by the County as is elaborated in the CAIP project agreement, prior to commissioning”.
Also said the Chief Officer for Cooperatives, Trade and Markets Mr. Godfrey Akumali,” In line with H.E Sakaja’s Manifesto of Opportunities for all and Dignified Working conditions, the construction of the Wood and Furniture Industry will go a long way in elevating the lives of our people while increasing revenue collection which the County depends on in its Service Delivery “.
Among the Stakeholders present were representatives from; Kenya Forest Service(KFS), SBM Bank, State Department of Housing and Urban Development(SDHUD), Micro and Small Enterprise Authority, Kenya Forest Research Institute(KFRI), Strathmore University, MS Elizabeth Njau, Director Trade and Industry, Mr. Julius Karina, Ag. Director MSMEs, Ms. Susan Nyambura, Deputy Director Parks and Natural Resources among others.
