Nairobi City County is committed to empowering Small, Medium Enterprises(SME) and propelling their businesses to unprecedented heights through a single digit interest rate loans through the establishment of Biashara Fund subject to Public Participation.
Speaking at a Stakeholders consultative breakfast meeting at the Panari Hotel,the County Chief Officer for Business and Hustler Opportunities Ms. Zipporah Mwangi reading the Sector Executive’s speech said once the Biashara Fund is established will unlock entrepreneurial potential and break down barriers to capital, ensuring that every entrepreneur regardless of background has the chance to turn their vision into a thriving business.
Said Zipporah, “The Fund will also be transparent in the application and disbursement process hence creating a level playing field for all,”
Emphasizing on the possible impact of the Biashara fund Chief Zipporah said the fund will trascend Sectors,celebrate the diversity of local businesses and ensure sustainable growth through education and mentorship programs.
The Director Donor Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement Mr. Kepha Omanga speaking at the same event said the Biashara Fund will mark a new era in how the County approaches Economic Development and safeguarding public interests.
Said Omanga,”Looking at resources available from our partners as per our dialogue today, we are excited with where the Fund is headed and we call upon our partners to pitch proposals on areas they intend to partner on for us as a County to be able to do the same.”
Present at the event; Chief Officers Victor Otieno and Tiras Njoroge for Digital Economy and Start Ups and Smart Nairobi respectively Director Governance Delivery Unit Office of the Governor Ms. Eunice Kariuki, Ag. Director for SME Mr. Julius Karina, representatives from KCB, Equity Bank, Strathmore University school of Business, International Republican Institute among others.
