Nairobi City County to Roll Out Single-Digit Business Loans for MSE Traders Through Biashara Stimulus Programme

Plans are underway for Nairobi City County Micro and Small Enterprise (MSE) traders to start receiving single-digit business loans from June 2024 in organized and registered groups of five or more members or as individuals MSE business enterprises.

The County’s subsidized single-digit business loans will be accessed through the Biashara Stimulus Programme to be launched next month following successful Public Participation undertaken across the 17 Sub-Counties with over a 90% support from Nairobians.

Speaking at a planning review meeting, County Executive for the Business and Hustler Opportunities Sector, Ms. Maureen Njeri, said the Programme is at an advanced stage following the development and approval of the concept by the cabinet.

The County Chief Officer for Business and Hustler Opportunities Sector Ms. Zipporah Mwangi said “the MoUs for profiling of the potential beneficiaries to be undertaken in the course of this month with the process for identification of strategic partners for both financial and capacity building already initiated and expected to be completed by the first week of June to ensure the funded businesses are sustainable,”

Also present during the meeting were, Chief Officer Social Services, George Mutiso, Director Governance Delivery Unit Office of the Governor, MS. Eunice Kariuki, Director for Micro and Small Enterprises development, Mr. Julius Karina, Director Digital Economy, Assistant Director Community Development, among other officers in the County.
