NAIROBI: 16th July 2024

The Nairobi City County government has announced plans to provide free psychosocial support to the families of victims of the Kware murders. This initiative is part of the county’s efforts to help the affected families cope with the trauma and emotional distress resulting from the tragic events. The support will include counseling services and other mental health resources to assist the victims’ families in their recovery process.

While addressing the families gathered at the Nairobi Funeral Home, Chief Officer of Social Services, George Mutiso, said:

“We understand the immense pain and grief you are experiencing during this incredibly difficult time.  Nairobi City County is committed to standing with you and providing the necessary support. We are offering free psychosocial services to help you navigate through this period of trauma and loss. Our counselors and mental health professionals are here to support you, provide a listening ear, and assist you in coping with the emotional distress caused by these tragic events. Please know that you are not alone; we are here to help you every step of the way.”

This is a collaboration between Nairobi City County and Kenya Red Cross headed by Mercy Gathara.
