Nairobi City County Launches Workshop for Development of Comprehensive Older Persons Policy

Nairobi City County Executive for Talent, Skills Development and Care, Rosemary Kariuki opened a 3 day workshop that will see the development of Older Persons Policy.

The workshop that has been organized by HelpAge International and the Social Services subsector has incorporated a spirited technical team with a vast knowledge on policy matters. The team comprising of the Built Environment Sector, County legal sector, Lapfund, HelpAge, County Innovation and Digital Economy sector and the Social Services subsector will develop and see the implementation of the Older Persons Policy.
Talents7The County Executive Ms. Rosemary Kariuki said in her opening remarks “ The  County will identify land to build more institutions for older persons across the County, Increase capacity, Mobilize resources and seek to allocate adequate budgets to run these institutions. We will also benchmark to ensure best practices.”
Talents6Currently there is only one public facility for older persons ( Mji wa Huruma in Runda) that is run by the County.
