Nairobi City County Business and Hustler Opportunities Sector’s Markets Sub Sector has as part of its Rapid Results Initiative (RRI), forged the way forward on Market Revenue Mobilization which is aimed at increasing revenue from Baseline Ksh.81.557M to Kshs. 266.5M in the next 90 days.
Ms. Maureen Njeri the Executive Member for Business and Hustlers Opportunities speaking at a meeting that brought together Senior officers from the Sector and other Departments including, the Sub County Administration, Inspectorate and Revenue, said that Markets revenue had dipped in the last one-year despite being one of the major revenue stream within the County.
Said Ms. Maureen, “H.E. the Governor is concerned by the Markets revenue trajectory and has called for synergies in the activities by the various departments. There is need for all the sectors involved in revenue collection to work together and harmoniously to achieve the set targets.”
Added Njeri, “The implementation of the Finance Bill 2023/2024 should be effected from 1st November 2023 and I assure you of support from the Executive and incase of any concerns or complaints.
Chief Officer Markets and Trade Mr. Godfrey Akumali also pointed out that the targets were achievable through well-coordinated supervision and facilitations of the basic revenue requirements.
Chief officer Boroughs and Sub County Administration Ms. Lydiah Mathia also challenged the market Revenue team to be working closely with the Sub County Administration which is always willing and ready to support them achieve their set targets.
Also present was the Director Markets Ms. Joyce Kyengo, Director Revenue Mr. Shabaan Asman, Director Sub County Administration Mr. Joel Muli, Deputy Director for Inspectorate Mr. Kipsang’, Market Managers, Market in charges among other officers.
