Nairobi City County Government scoops two awards at the Africa Smart City Investment Summit in Kigali, Rwanda.
The summit, dubbed “Leadership for Smart Cities,” brought together more than 1000 participants from across Africa and beyond.
Deputy Governor H. E Njoroge Muchiri led the team from Nairobi accompanied by Mr. Tiras Njoroge, County Chief officer for Smart Nairobi and Mr. George Musyoka Governor’s advisor -Innovation, Technology and Digital Economy.
Said the Deputy Governor “Nairobi City is poised to have a population of 7 million people by the year 2030, this calls for a new thinking about the way we provide services for the people.
Through smart city initiatives, digital technologies are becoming a major part of modernizing city operations and transforming service delivery.
The theme leadership for smart cities: investing in inclusive and sustainable smart cities of the future sits well with Nairobi City County’s vision of creating a city of order, dignity, hope and opportunities.
In our model for the city, we aim at creating a city where no one is left behind.”
Nairobi was placed 3rd in the ASCIS index in Africa and 1st in the Economic Tech Catalyst Category in Africa.
