Nairobi City County Government Join stakeholders in launching Fire safety Manual .

Nairobi 2nd September, 2019

The Nairobi City County Government on 2nd September, 2019 joined Kenya Government ministries and stakeholders in launching the Kenya Fire Safety Manual 2019 at Kenyatta National Hospital.

The launch of the manual prepared by the Fire Safety Burns Awareness Forum is a precursor of the County’s awareness campaign week starting 3rd September, 2019.

The campaign will invariably provide basic information to people at all levels on preparedness, preventive, reduction and response to fire incidents.

Further, the campaign will provide a platform for the County and the public to engage in respect to disaster management and Coordination.

Nairobi County’s Disaster and Coordination Sector will be joined by Kenya Power, National Police Service, The Burn Society of Kenya, Kenyatta National Hospital among others in the campaign.

Meanwhile, the County Chief Officer Disaster management and Coordination Sector Ms. Anne Mwenda has said that the public awareness programme is meant to sensitize the public, especially those living in the informal settlements. She added, “We have noted that most of fire occurrences are as a result of human error, hence prevention is key.”
