Nairobi City County Explores ECDE Expansion: New Initiative Targets Primary Schools for Enhanced Educational Access

Nairobi City County last week, embarked on an initiative of visiting newly established primary schools with an intention of establishing ECDE Centers in the schools: The department of Education led by the

Director for City Education Ms. Ruth Owuor visited The New Kamukunji Primary School in Kamukunji Sub county, Majengo area Eastleigh South ward and Kware Primary School in Embakasi South, Kwa Njenga Ward.

Said the Director “With a keen eye on the school infrastructure, Nairobi County aims to assess the potential for expanding access to quality education, especially at the foundational level.”

During these visits, she engaged with school administrators, educators, and community members to understand the educational needs and challenges faced by the local population in accessing quality basic education.
Ecdexpand3The discussions centered on infrastructure and community involvement in supporting the establishment of new pre-primary schools to accommodate the ever increasing population in Nairobi informal settlements.

Ms. Owuor said Nairobi City County is committed to fostering educational development and ensuring that every child in Nairobi has access to a strong educational foundation.

“We are keen on the importance of collaboration between government agencies, educational institutions, and local communities in advancing the implementation of the County’s CIDP 2023-2027 “She said.
