Nairobi, Friday, February 5th, 2021
Nairobi City County Executives, sector heads and the Finance teams are currently working on the sector budget proposals for the year 2021/2022.
Said Deputy Governor and acting Governor, Ms Kananu “ I am happy my officers have hit the ground running to ensure that the budget that will be finally presented to the County Assembly for approval is one that has gone through high level discussions approach and formulation. My key priority is to ensure timely service delivery to Nairobi Residents”
She continued, “By law County governments are supposed to prepare and summate County Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP) to the County Assembly for approval. This process and documentation is important because it contains the budget priorities that Nairobi County will be focusing on in the coming Financial Year. Therefore the ongoing exercise is to identify and harmonize all Nairobi County priorities. County Governments have realized the importance of budget planning because it gives a County government an opportunity to allocate the scarce resources to ensure service delivery in the most efficient manner. This exercise is also used to identify key projects and programs that will enhance service delivery.”
In the last Financial Year 2020/2021, the County Assembly approved a budget of Kshs 37.7 B. Recurrent (Kshs 28.9B) and development budget. (Kshs 10.8).
