Nairobi City County budget and appropriation committee concluded its deliberations to finalize on budget estimates for the financial year 2021/2022.
The 5 day workshops aim was to discuss and determine respective sector budget allocations which would be critical for service delivery to Nairobi residents.
The budget Committee Chair Hon. Robert Mbatia who is also the Member of County Assembly Kariobangi South said that the committee would receive sector reports to help them determine different sector allocations on budgetary utilization in the financial year 2021/2022.
Said Director of budget Mr. James Ngunjiri, “Budget process is a long process defined in the law. Every sector committee is supposed to interrogate the budget to determine whether it’s in tandem with the County fiscal paper, then the committee makes consideration based on available resources.”
“The budget process starts from the ground where the general publics are given a chance to propose priority projects in their wards during public participation forums.” Said Acting County Secretary, Dr Jairus Musumba
Said Hon. Michael Ogada, Minority Leader Nairobi County Assembly, “The Nairobi County budget will ensure every ward is taken care of and ensure service delivery is attained. We do our best to ensure publics are contended with services delivered.Our work as MCAs in the budgeting process is to ensure the budget conforms with the law and also to see how the previous budget was implemented and money used the right way.”
