Nairobi City County Ag. County Secretary Mr. Leboo Ole Morintat,the Deputy Head of Public Service Mr. Wanyama Musiambo (Office of the President) and the County Chief Officer for Disaster management Ms.Ann Mwenda on 31.07.2019 made an impromptu visit to Waithaka fire station to inspect on the progress of the facility.
The fire station is among the modern fire stations the county is putting up in conjunction with the national government.
Waithaka fire station is 90 percent done and is expected to be complete in one and half months. Once done it will serve Waithaka,Kangemi,Kawangware,Uthiru,Kabete,Karen,Riruta and Kibera among other areas.
The fire station has a Borehole,an underground water tank to ensure enough water supply,a standby generator,control room a gym,a restaurant,boardrooms, domitories and breathing aparators among many others.
Mr. Leboo has called for more public fire safety awareness campaigns in order to create access roads in the neighborhoods in case of fire emergencies. He also underscored H.E the Governor Mike Sonko’s plans to build more modern fire stations in all the 17 SubCounties.
Mr.Musiambo has called on the county government to work with the national government to sensitize people on the importance of the accessibility in case of fire incidences. He also urged the contractors to ensure qualify of the projects.
